GK textbook on Manipur coming soon: SCERT director

Imphal, October 26 2024: State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Manipur director Aheibam Romen has said that general knowledge (GK) textbook on Manipur for elementary classes will soon be published.

Speaking at a one day Consultative Meeting for Development of General Knowledge of Manipur held at SCERT, Manipur office on Saturday, A Romen informed that the meeting was organised to have a detail deliberation on important aspects of history, geographical features and other major facets of the state, which needs to be imparted to the young students.

After the meeting, the results of the deliberations will be forwarded to various subject experts, who will then compile the subject matters and present it to the expert committee.

After approval of the said committee, the GK textbook will be brought out, he said.

Romen continued that the book will follow the NEP-2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF)-Foundation Stage and NCF-Secondary Stage guidelines.

Emphasising the importance of such GK textbooks for the present and future generations, he said that the book has been planned considering the need for making aware the state's history and origin among the students who will be the future pillar of the society.

Romen further stated that the book will play a crucial role in protecting the state's integrity and maintain peace and harmony among different communities residing in the state.
