Senapati District Health Society (DHS) conducted Kayakalp assessment at Paomata and Laii PHCs on Monday.
The official team was led by CMO Dr Sumpi Percy along with National Health Mission district program manager RK Elizabeth.
The Kayakalp assessment team evaluated the performance of public health facilities at Paomata PHC and Laii PHC.
The assessment covered several criteria, including facility upkeep, sanitation, waste management, infection control, support services and hygiene promotion.
Dr Sumpi also urged staffers of both PHCs to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control practices in public health facilities.
The team also encouraged facilities to continuously assess and review their performances.
The district program manager highlighted the importance of PHCs in India and informed that PHCs are established under the National Health Mission (NHM) to serve a population of 30,000 in rural areas and 20,000 in hilly, tribal and desert areas.
PHCs are the first point of contact between a village community and a medical officer, she mentioned, while adding that the team is impressed by the Standard of maintenance from both the PHCs.
