Girl abandoned after assault, accused held

Imphal, September 24 2024: A 14-year old girl was abducted, assaulted and then abandoned by a 16-year old boy on September 11 .

The two reportedly got acquainted through mobile phone recently.

Police source said that the incident occurred on September 11 when the accused abducted the girl around 11 am and left her at Lamlong Keithel around 7 pm of the same day.

During investigation, police got suspicious of physical assault of the minor girl which was confirmed during medical examination at RIMS.

In the follow up investigation, a team of Porompat police station rounded up the accused teen, following proper formalities of detaining a juvenile.

He has been sent to a juvenile observation home after producing before the Juvenile Justice Board, the source added.
