Protests continue against Jiribam massacre

Imphal, November 22 2024: Under the aegis of Federation of Civil Societies Organisation (FOCS) Working Committee, various organisations on Friday organised sit-in protests against the killing of six civilians including women and children in Jiribam district on Friday.

Sit-ins were staged at Kongba Uchekkon, Bamon Kampu and New Chekkon on Friday, wherein, the protestors shouted and held banners and placards inscribed with the slogans, "Punish the killers immediately", "Declare 10 Chin-Kuki-Zo MLAs and their allied organisations - ITLF and CoTU as terrorists", "Repeal AFSPA from Manipur", "Withdraw SoO immediately", and "Implement NRC in Manipur" .

Manipur Ima kanglei Sintha Semgat Lup also organised sit-in protest at Singjamei Keithel on Thursday demanding justice in the abduction and subsequent killing of six hostages by Hmar-Kuki militants in Jakuradhor, Jiribam.

Meanwhile, the rally hunger strike by Uripok Apun-ba Lup and Uripok Apunba Nupi Lup completed a week on Friday.

Another protest was staged at Lamphel Khunou Leikai from 8 am till noon on Friday, and from noon till 6 pm by residents of Uripok Sorbon Thingel, CDS Club and IDPs staying in the relief camp at Lamboi Khongnangkhong.
