Teachers briefed on JJ System, child marriage Act

Kakching, April 21 2025: An awareness cum sensitization programme for school teachers of Kakching district on "Juvenile Justice System Overview and Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006" was held at Wabagai Higher Secondary School on Monday.

The programme organised by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kakching with the support of the district administration, and presided over by the host school's principal Mayengbam Bhorot, had Child Welfare Committee, Tengnoupal member secretary Darngam Khaling and DCPU, Kakching legal cum probation officer M Robindro speaking on the topics "Juvenile Justice System Overview" and "Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006" respectively.

Delivering the keynote address, DCPU child protection officer Gajoo Rajkumari stressed the importance of teachers getting acquainted with laws and acts related to child protection as they have close bonding with the students.

She informed that 50 teachers each from Langmeidong, Keirak and Pangaltabi clusters in Kakching district have been selected to participate in the programme.

The session for Langmeidong cluster was held at Langmeidong Dramatic Union hall on April 11 and Kakching cluster on April 16 at Kakching Wairi Kongoi community hall with the Wabagai School event on Monday attended by 54 teachers Serving as the venue for Keirak cluster.

The programme for Pangaltabi cluster would be held on April 24 at Kakching Khunou High School, she informed.
