Imphal, May 20 2025:
An awareness programme on the impact of drugs was organised by Thounaojam Chaoba Memorial Charitable Trust at Warriors Rehabilitation Centre, Leimaram Awang Leikai, on Tuesday.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Trust managing trustee Th Romen highlighted the crucial role of parents in preventing their children from falling into drug addiction.
He said that instead of concealing their children's drug-related issues, families should adopt the right approach by seeking timely treatment and support.
Romen cautioned that drug addiction is a disease and should not be treated as a moral failing.
"We must support those struggling with addiction and help them reintegrate into society, rather than stigmatising or discriminating against them," he said.
Warriors Rehabilitation Centre secretary Irengbam Khaba, said the facility, which is registered under the Department of Social Welfare, is currently facing financial constraints.
He expressed gratitude to the Thounaojam Chaoba Memorial Charitable Trust for extending much-needed support to the centre.
The programme was also attended by residents of Leimaram and Heinoubok, as well aS representatives of Leimaram Yaipha Lamjing Lup and the Leimaram Heinoubok Waroiching Development Committee.
