Imphal, June 17 2025:
A team of Meetei Council Moreh (MCM) led by president Mayanglambam Thoiba Meitei and general secretary Leisangthem Brojendro Singh met Tengnoupal DC Saurabh Yadav, and Moreh ADC Azgar Ajai, SDO Ejaz Hassan and SDC SukUr Ali at the temporary office of the DC at Kakching Lamkhai on Tuesday and apprised them of the issues concerning internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Moreh.
During the meeting, MCM raised concerns about the current difficulties faced by the Meetei IDPs.
The DC listened to their concerns and assured to take up necessary measures to mitigate their sufferings and consider their demands at the earliest.
On MCM's request for payment of ex-gratia to the families of seven persons who went missing since May 3, 2023, and have been presumed dead, the DC assured to provide the ex-gratia after submission of relevant documents to the home commissioner.
He also assured that around 200 IDPs who have not received the interim relief of Rs 25,000 would' get the monetary assistance soon.
The DC further assured that the district administration would take up necessary initiatives to provide educational support to displaced students, issue health and ration cards, and facilitate registration of eligible youths in the electoral toll.
Clarifying on the issue of missing Meetei locality names in the IDP Management Portal, ADC Azgar Ajai informed the MCM team that there was no attempt to erase the five Meetei localities of Moreh, and said that the issue likely stemmed from address mismatches on Aad-haar cards.
He explained that IDPs can manually fill in their locality names while registering on the portal.
MCM appreciated the district administration officials for their assurances while expressing confidence that they would translate their assurances into action at the earliest.
