DC inaugurates three anganwadi centres

Jiribam, August 12 2025:
Deputy commissioner Krishna Kumar on Tuesday inaugurated newly constructed Anganwadi centres at Aglapur, Islamabad, Kamranga (near SAYC Club Building), and Hilghat Khunou (near Gorchara) under the Jiribam CD Block.
These centres were constructed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), implemented by the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, as part of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project.
The Anganwadi centres at Aglapur and Islamabad were constructed during the 2024-25 financial year, while those at Kamranga and Hilghat were completed in the 2025-26 financial year.
During the inauguration, Krishna Kumar interacted with Anganwadi workers and helpers, encouraging them to identify eligible mothers under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) in the locality and ensure the delivery of maternity benefits.
The DC emphasised the importance of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and called for awareness and advocacy campaigns in the area.
Additionally, he urged the community to actively monitor and report incidents of child marriage to the relevant authorities for timely intervention.
Krishna Kumar also stressed the need for regular health check-ups for pregnant Women and lactating mothers, as well as the provision of supplementary nutritious food for children aged 0 to 6 .
He instructed the Anganwadi workers to promote timely immunisation for children in coordination with ASHA workers.
Furthermore, he advised them to hold regular meetings with supervisors to address any concerns.
He also directed them to monitor children's height-weight ratios regularly and report the findings to authorities concerned.
The inauguration of these Anganwadi centres will benefit hundreds of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers in the area, providing them with essential services and support.
With the opening of these centres, Jiribam district takes a significant step towards improving child and maternal health, promoting education, and empowering communities.
The event was attended by Th Manoranjan Singh, additional deputy commissioner of Jiribam; Faij Ahmed, administrative committee chairperson of Sonapur GP; T Janeshor Singh, BDO of Jiribam CD Block; RK Sailash Singh, BDO of Borobekra; Mutum Bina, chairperson of Zilla Parishad, Jiribam; RK Nobinsana, chairman of the Administrative Committee, Dibong GP; and L Samarendra Singh, Administrative Committee chairman of Hilghat ZP, along with officials from the district administration, ICDS workers, helpers, and local community leaders.
