Meritorious students feted, saplings planted

Assam Rifles assisted Naga Students' Union Chandel in felicitating meritorious students of Class X & XII of Chandel district.
The felicitating ceremony was organised at Chamdil Town Hall, Panchai, with the theme "To Educate, To Enable and To Empower", said PRO IGAR (S) in a release.
Informing that about 120 students were felicitated for their achievements in the academic the year 2023-24, the PRO said that the event served as a platform to recognise and applaud the outstanding achievements of bright young minds, as well as to demonstrate the Assam Rifles' unwavering support and encouragement to student union organisations in their efforts to nurture talent and inspire excellence in all aspects of life.
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles organised a tree plantation drive at Mantripukhri Garrison on Tuesday to raise awareness among troops about the importance of trees and environmental conservation.
During the event, troops were educated On the multifaceted benefits of trees, including biodiversity preservation, water conservation, soil preservation, and climate control.
Highlighting these aspects helps underline the vital connection between trees and our basic necessities, said the PRO in another release.
Assam Rifles collaborated with the Forest Department of Sadar East Range Office, Sangakpham to procure a variety of saplings, both fruit-bearing and non-fruit-bearing.
As many as 1,240 saplings were planted during the drive participated by 240 troops, the release added.
Meanwhile, in a move to provide vocational training and employment, Assam Rifles inaugurated a 'Skill Development Program on Hospitality and Retail Management' on Tuesday at Sanjeevani.
The training programme was launched in collaboration with We Care Skill Solution.
The opening ceremony was attended by selected youths keen to enhance their skills.
The commander of Assam Rifles congratulated the participants and encouraged them to make the best use of the 12-week training programme.
Participants will receive hands-on training and mentorship, culminating in certificates accredited by the National Skill Development Corporation.
We Care Skill Solution will also facilitate job placements by connecting trainees with reputed organisations nationwide, the release said.
The event concluded with an informal interaction between participants, Assam Rifles, and We Care Skill Solution representatives.
