Imphal, April 11 2025:
A coalition of 19 Muslim clubs and organisations carried out a protest rally from Golapati Cen tre Point, which passed through Checkon, and concluded at the Golapati public ground.
Protesters carried placards with messages such as "We strongly condemn the government's racial policies", "Save Masjid, Madrasa, Qabristan" and "Stop targeting Muslims".
Speaking on the sidelines of the rally, joint organising committee convenor Haji Arafat Ali contended that passing of the Waqf Amendment Act by Parliament constitutes a violation of the rights of Muslims.
"Although the Constitution of India guarantees the right to practice and protect one's religion, the government's actions against the Muslim community are deeply concerning," he rued.
Asserting that the Act cannot be implemented in Manipur, Haji Arafat Ali announced that the committee is prepared to launch various forms of agitation in response.
