Man surrenders after firing at SFs

Imphal, June 10 2025:
One Raj Pangeijam (39), son of Ramananda of Sagolband Salam Leikai, who opened fire at security forces in Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak area on Monday, reportedly surrendered to the authority later the same night.
According to source, Raj fired at security forces around 2.30 pm but surrendered with one .45 pistol.
Meanwhile, Juvenile Club and Tera Sapam Leirak Apunba Meira Paibi on Tuesday organised a sit-in protest at Tera Sapam Leirak denouncing firing in residential areas.
The protestors held placards inscribed with slogans such as 'Stop gun culture in crowded locality', and 'Violence does not bring peace' among others.
Speaking on the side lines of the protest, Juvenile Club president Th Loken condemned attack on security forces by firing amidst the prevailing unstable situation in the state.
Security forces planned search operation in the area aftermath of the shooting incident but were stopped by local meira paibi assuring that such act will not recur in future, he continued, while appealing all concerned to respect sentiment of the locals and refrain from using firearms in residential areas and crowded places.
