SCC marks 1st foundation day with renewed vision

Sorshia Christian College (SCC) marked its first Foundation Day on Friday with a celebratory gathering of dignitaries, community leaders, students, and well-wishers at its campus in Mapao Zingtun.
Centred on the biblical theme "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom", the event reflected the college's vision of uniting academic excellence with spiritual and moral values.
Principal Dr R Chance opened the programme with a welcome address, recalling how SCC began as a prayerful aspiration and grew through the concerted efforts of the local community.
"Our aim is not merely to construct minds, but to build character, grounded in moral discipline and guided by cultural heritage," he affirmed.
Attending the event as chief guest, Dr IK Muivah, ADGP (HR/HG), Manipur Police, commended the founders for giving equal importance to moral education and academic achievement.
He lauded the dedication of SCC's teachers in shaping not only the intellect but also the values of their students.
In his speech as guest of honour, former MP (Outer Manipur) Mani Charenamei, emphasised that education serves as "the great equaliser between the rich and the poor".
Delegates from ANSAM, TKS, and RNSOM delivered impromptu exhortations, urging students to pursue education with a sense of duty towards their culture and community.
Founder and chairman Sorei Raman extended heartfelt thanks to dignitaries, cultural artistes, student unions, community leaders, and volunteers, remarking, "SCC is not merely an institution but a common dream shared by many hearts" .
The celebration featured sing-spiration by the Sorshia College Band, cultural performances by Class XI and XII students, a special song by student Gaichuingam, and opening and closing choral pieces by the NHA Choir.
The event concluded with a prayer led by Timothy Ramror, retired scientist from the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
