Five-day festival of books begins

Imphal, March 09 2025:
With an aim to foster reading habits among the people and help mitigate mental distress being encountered by the people due to the ongoing conflict, The Readers Book Store launched a five-day Festival of books' at MFSDS courtyard, Palace compound, here, on Sunday.
For the first time in the State, the book fair will provide discount of 20 per cent on all titles including Meeteilon literatures.
Moreover, 'buy two get one free' offer is also given on select titles.
Several books ranging from fiction, non-fiction, classics, Meeteilon literatures, North East titles and academic books are available at the fair.

Speaking in this regard, The Readers Book Store coordinator Damudor Arambam noted that people of Manipur are passing through a critical period filled with stress and uncertainty owing to the crisis for nearly two years.
"With the festive (Yaoshang) season approaching, we are implementing our approach to alleviate some of the mental trauma caused by the conflict through events like this book fair.
Our goal is also to foster a reading culture among the people and transform Imphal into a city of readers, " he said.
The coordinator further appealed to the people to attend and collectively celebrate the festival of books, making it a grand success.
