High Court halts bail to Mark Haokip

Imphal, July 05 2024: Manipur High Court has stayed the bail granted to Mark Haokip by the Special Judge (NIA), Imphal West on March 28,2023, until the next hearing of the case.

On Friday, the High Court heard appeals and pending applications as per the urgency conveyed by counsels representing the parties concerned.

Initially, no representation was made on behalf of the respondents, prompting an initial passing over of the matters.

Subsequently, Osbert Khaling, counsel for the respondents, appeared and informed the court that Dr Colin Gonsalves, senior advocate for the respondents, was engaged in another court proceeding and requested to schedule the hearing post the High Court s summer recess starting Saturday.

Advocate General of Manipur urged that the stay on the order be extended to maintain the status quo until the next hearing, following which the court adjourned the hearing.

After considering the submissions, the High Court stayed the bail order until the next hearing.
