Working relentlessly to maintain peace: Jiribam DC

Jiribam, March 05 2025: Jiribam deputy commissioner Krishna Kumar on Wednesday stated that the district administration, with the help of various security forces, has been working relentlessly towards maintaining peace and facilitate the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in different relief camps return to their native villages.

The DC assessed conditions and basic amenities of relief camps opened in the district.

During the visit, Krishna Kumar interacted with the IDPs at Bidyanagar Sports Complex, Harinagar Children Home and Jiribam Higher Secondary School relief camps.

He also commended the relief camp committees for conduct of social service programmes on every Sunday, expressing that such programmes would help address mental stress apart from maintaining cleanliness.

Highlighting the importance of providing livelihood activities to the IDPs, the DC called upon district level officers (DLOs) to facilitate marketing of products of the relief camps including handicraft items to local markets and e-commerce platforms.

Stressing on the need to maintaining hygiene, he instructed the Health Department to take up necessary measures and carry out regular visits to the relief camp prevent any form of outbreak and spread of diseases.

Krishna Kumar also emphasised that all necessary assistances should be provided by the departments concerned to the camps.

The DC was accompanied by Jiribam SP Sheikh Mohd Zaib Zakir, additional deputy commissioner Th Manoranjan, Jiribam Municipal Council EO and relief camps nodal officer M Surjit Singh, CMO, SDCs, DLOs and members of District Level Executive Committee of Relief Camp, Jiribam.
