Arms surrendered, bomb found

Imphal, March 04 2025:
Following Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla's appeal for surrendering illegal weapons as a part of the disarmament drive and restore peace and normalcy in the state, arms, ammunition and explosive materials were handed over to the police authorities in Bishnupur district on Tuesday.
According to a police report, one INSAS rifle with two magazines and 36 rounds; a point 303 rifle with two magazines, three missed rounds, 15 live rounds, smoke shell (green colour), one SBBL gun, a hand grenade, two SLR rifles with two magazines, LMG magazines with nine rounds and five detonators were surrendered to Bishnupur district police commando on Tuesday.
Two country-made bolt action rifles and one local made pistol with magazine were also surrendered to Kumbi police station, while one each SMG carbine with magazine and single barrel were surrendered to Phougakchao Ikhai police station.
Meanwhile, a mortar bomb was found at Kanto Sabal village under Sekmai police station on Tuesday around 9.30 am.
According to police, the bomb has been defused by state bomb expert.
