RIMS doctors protest assault of colleague

Condemning the assault on a doctor on duty by a patient's husband, RIMS doctors ceased service and staged sit-in protest in front of RIMS OPD on Tuesday.
It is reported that the husband in question the doctor at the Gynaecology ward on Monday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the sit-in, RIMS Resident Doctors' Association advisor Dr Sunil denounced the assault on the doctor on duty by patient party and trespassing the area which only doctors are allowed access.
The involved person was picked up by police, he informed, while adding that the accused is yet to tender apology to them.
He urged RIMS security personnel to remain on alert and take timely action to prevent recurrence of such incident.
Dr Sunil further stated that resumption of their work will depend as per the decision of the RIMS director on the issue.
The protestors held placards inscribed 'Stop violence on doctors' and 'Assault on doctors is crime'.
As a result of the doctors' protest, all major operations scheduled at RIMS were suspended, and OPD service disrupted.
