Man drowns, search on for missing minors

Bodies of two minors, who are feared drowned in the streams of Khuga River, also referred to as Tuitha and Lailam River, on September 27 are yet to be recovered though search continued while body of a man has been fished out from Khuga river.
The missing minors are Jacob Somminlal (9), son of Ngaihlun of Neihsial Veng, and Baby Kimneisang (2), daughter of Khamlunlal of Beulahlane.
While Jacob slipped into river around 7am on September 27 while digging mud from the river bed, Kimneisang was carried away by the strong current of the Lailam River around 3.30 pm the same day after she fell from window of her house directly into the river running below.
Frantic search for the two children by volunteers of civil society organisations (CSOs), Assam Rifles and police continued till Tuesday.
Under the joint leadership of Zou Youth Organisation (ZYO) and Hmar Youth Association (HYA), various philanthropic organisations like YPA, KKL, YVA, SYO, YMA and others are helping in the search.
Areas like Zoumunuam, Thingchom, Didan Songza Khopi, C Munkot, B Ebenezer, Saihenjang and other parts of Tuitha river banks have been searched so far with requisitioning of a motor boat from Geljang tourist resort but to no avail till the time of filing this report: Meanwhile, one Michael Limgoulian (25) of Hiangtam Lamka, who worked as caretaker of the K Salem Rehabilitation Centre, died due to drowning in Khuga River around 2/3 pm on Tuesday.
According to reports, he got drowned in the river, probably due to exhaustion while pursuing three escaped inmates of the rehabilitation centre.
After an extensive search, Hmar Youth Association (HYA) volunteers recovered his body near the spot where he dived.
