The 15-day Refresher Training programme on Thang-Ta and Manipuri Jagoi organised by Kangleipak Indigenous Martial Arts & Cultural Society (KIMACS) in collaboration with Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (CoHSEM) at KIMACS office in Palace Compound concluded on Saturday.
The valedictory programme was attended by CoHSEM secretary Khundrakpam Ashikumar, Thang-Ta Day Observation Committee chairman Irom Ibomcha and KIMACS president Ningthoujam Ajit Mangang as presidium members.
In his speech, Ningthoujam Ajit recounted the Society's efforts to include Manipur's traditional knowledge and culture in educational platforms since 2013.As part of these efforts, the first refresher programme was held in 2015 and has been held continuously since then, except in avoidable circumstance.
He continued that although Thang-Ta and Manipuri Jagoi have been included in the syllabus, it lacks proper implementation and as such, KIMACS has been training and posting teachers in private and government schools.
He then urged the government to absorb the contracted teachers.
With regard to mission schools, he informed that no response has been received from the schools.
Nonetheless, KIMACS will try to talk sense with the schools and do the needful, he added.
