'Run for Unity' marks Rashtriya Ekta Diwas in state

Imphal, October 31 2024: Pledge taking/administering programmes and 'run for unity' marked the observance of 150th birth anniversary of independent India's first deputy Prime Minister and home minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, held across the country as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

In Noney district, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas/National Unity Day was observed by the Noney DC Office Complex on Thursday with ADM Stiff Ka-phudang leading district level officers and staff members in a pledge taking ceremony, followed by the district administration and Noney police conducting 'Run for Unity' from Noney bridge to Longmai Bazar Traffic Point.

Highlight of the National Unity Day 2024 observance in Chandel district was conduct of 'Run for Unity' at Chandel district headquarter on Thursday.

The Run was flagged of by Chandel executive magistrate Mothel Saka from Indoor Stadium, Chandel and it culminated at Mini Secretariat Complex.

The observance was attended by around 200 people including additional SP (Ops) Ts Chamna Anal, SDPO Md Jaheruddin, Chakpikarong police station OC Th Joy Martin, RO to SP Samson Ngoruh, district youth affairs and sports officer M Tilok, students, civil and police personnel and public.

CHURACHANDPUR: National Unity Day observance organised by Churachandpur district administration to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, also referred to as the Iron Man of India, was marked by 'Run for Unity' flagged off by Churachandpur SP Shaik Mohd Zaib Zakir from the DC Complex, with Public Ground as the finishing point.

Prior to the Run, the SP administered the unity pledge to the participants from civil administration, police, CRPF, BSF and 1st IRB .

JIRIBAM: District administration under the supervision of deputy commissioner (DC) Krishna Kumar observed National Unity Day2024 at the conference hall of DC's office on Thursday with Jiribam SDC S Sitaranjit Singh, Borobekra SDC M Devananda Singh, Jiribam additional SP Thomas Thokchom and other DLOs in attendance.

As part of the observance, the district administration along with Jiri College NSS Unit & IQAC, organised a 'Run for Unity' .

KAKCHING: National Unity Day in Kakching district was jointly observed by the district administration, District Youth Affairs and Sports and Khelo India Centre, Kakching (Badminton and Wushu), along with 'Run for Unity' flagged off by SP Thokchom Vikramjit Singh from the Chumnang Leikai Indoor Stadium premises.

Additional SP (Ops) Binoy Chongtham, district youth affairs and sports officer Ng Sunita Chanu, and Kakching commando OC Birla Soraisam joined the run numbering around 100 participants.

SP Vikramjit administered unity pledge to the participants as part of the programme.

KANGPOKPI: Rashtriya Ekta Diwas/National Unity Day in the district was organised under the aegis of the district administration on Thursday.

The observance included a 'Run for Unity' aimed at instilling sense of national unity and communal harmony.

The run participated by district police, led by SP Manoj Prabhakar, CRPF personnel, DLSOs, students, and local youths was flagged off by Kangpokpi ADC/ADM N Shokhongam Baite from the SP Office's campus with Brig M Thomas Ground as the finishing point.

The event concluded with pledge for unity by all participants at the ground.

Among others, Champhai SDO Lamminlal Simte and Autonomous District Council, Sadar Hills CEO James Doujapao Haokip attended the observance.

BISHNUPUR: National Unity Day was observed at the conference hall of the district's Mini Secretariat Complex on Thursday DC Lourembam Bikram administering the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to district officials, including ADM, DFO, SDOs, police officers, DLOs and students.

The event concluded with the DC flagging off 'Run for Unity' from the Mini Secretariat Complex.

SENAPATI: District administration in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Senapati and District Youth Affairs and Sports on Thursday organised a 'Run for Unity' to commemorate National Unity Day.

As part of the observance, DC Mamoni Doley administered the Unity pledge to the participants, followed by flagging off the Unity Run from the Mini Secretariat Complex.

DLOs of different departments and staff members, police personnel, Khelo India wrestling trainees, TNK youth members and students participated in the Run.

UKHRUL: Joining the rest of the country, Ukhrul district on Thursday observed the 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' (National Unity Day) by organising "Run for Unity" flagged off by DC Zuringla Kengoo from Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, Wino Bazar.

The participants later converged at the Mini Secretariat Compound, Hamleikhong.

Addressing the public, DC Kengoo stated that one must live respectfully with the land and with one another to ensure unity and peace in the district.

She administered the unity pledge to the participants to preserve unity, integrity and security of the nation and also to spread the message to fellow countrymen.

The participants also pledged to contribute, to ensure internal security of the country, with the spirit of unification which was passed down by the visions and actions of Sardar Vallabha'i Patel.

More than 200 people including DLOs and staff of different departments, police personnel, 6th Manipur Rifles and students of the school took part in the observance.

KAMJONG: District administration organised Run for Unity at the district headquarters to commemorate National Unity Day on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

The run for unity was flagged off from Alungtang Main Road and culminated at Kamjong High School ground.

More than 300 participants took part in the event.

Before the start of the run, Kamjong SDC Hungyo Yurreikan administered the Integrity Pledge to participants of the run, which included students, teachers and officials of the district administration among others.

Speaking on the occasion, SDC Hungyo recalled the pivotal role taken by Sardar Patel in India's freedom struggle.

Sardar Patel was known for his exceptional leadership skills and undying efforts to unite the diverse princely states into a single nation - India, he added.

The event was attended by Kamjong Hr Secondary School principal Philem Keishing, Chassad PS OC inspector James Shimray, staff and officials of SDC Office, Kamjong.
