Governor-designate arrives, swearing in today

Imphal, July 30 2024:
Manipur Governor-designate Lakshman Prasad Acharya arrived here on Tuesday for the formal swearing-in ceremony to be held at 9:30 am Wednesday at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan.
In a release, PRO Raj Bhavan informed that a reception programme was organised at Raj Bhavan where he was accorded warm welcome by chief minister N Biren Singh, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata Singh, ministers, MLAs, chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, security advisor Kuldiep Singh, DGP Rajiv Singh and senior officers.
A Rashtriya Salute was accorded by personnel of Manipur Rifles and India Reserve Battalion to the Governor-designate during the function.
Earlier, Lakshman Prasad landed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal, where he was also accorded warm welcome by high ranking civil and police officers led by chief secretary and DGP.
The release also conveyed that the CM, Assembly speaker, minsters and MLAs called on outgoing Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan during which the CM thanked the outgoing Governor for her role and contribution as the Constitutional Head of the State during her short term in Manipur.
He also lauded her efforts in restoring peace and normalcy in the State since outbreak of the conflict in May last year.
He wished Uikey a long and healthy life ahead.
Governor Anusuiya Uikey expressed her appreciation to the CM and his ministers for their cooperation and support during her tenure, it added.
