8 UG cadres held; SFs recover arms, IED

Imphal, January 30 2025:
Security forces arrested eight cadres of different proscribed outfits and recovered large cache of arms and ammunition during search operation at Chairel Khunou Chingsang Pareng (hill range).
According to police report, a combined team of Manipur Police and 38 Assam Rifles apprehended two active members of PREPAK (Pro) identified as Leishangthem Hemanta Singh alias Leishemba (41), son of (late) L Yaima Singh and Kiyam Open Meitei alias Penthokpa (41), son of K Iboyaima Meitei, both from Moirang Oksongbung Leikai, from Tentha village in Thoubal district around 6:20 pm Wednesday.

Along with a feature phone recovered, both have been handed over to Khongjom police station for further action.
A team of Manipur police also arrested two cadres of the banned RPF/ PLA identified as Nepram Bothe Meitei (24) and Yengkhom Gyandas Singh alias Dinku alias Chaningkhomba (24) on Wednesday.
Items recovered from two include a .32 pistol with magazine, seven 7.65mm rounds, two mobile handsets, a wallet with Rs 6210 cash, one Aadhaar card and a two wheeler.
Both are suspected to be involved in extortion activities from shops at Paona Bazar, said Manipur Police Control Room in a release.
On the other hand, central forces apprehended three cadres of KYKL and one cadre of the Koireng-led UNLF from an area near the Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar 85 and 86 under Tengnoupal district on January 28.According to the Police Control Room release, the KYKL cadres are Rishikanta Laishram alias Malemnganba (32), Poi-reiton Leitanthem alias Tokio (26) and Naorem Yohenba Singh alias Nongyai (26), and the UNLF cadre is Kh Malemnganba Meitei alias Phoungakpa (27).The central forces seized one 'Khukri' knife, two mobile phones, one power bank, four liquor bottles, two debit cards and one each of Aadhaar card, voter ID card and PAN card from them.
All of them have been handed over to Tengnoupal police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Kakching district commando unit, Wangoo police station and 46 AR conducted search operation at Chairel Khunou Chingsang Pareng under Wangoo police station from 7:50 am to 8:35 am on Thursday, leading to recovery of one assault rifle, one 9mm pistol with magazine, five kg IED, two 36 HE grenades, one smoke shell (CS), one tear smoke grenade, one PEK stick with fuse and detonator, one bullet proof vest and other war-like stores.
The recoveries have been handed over to Wangoo police station for further legal action.
