Langban Heikat rituals held for martyrs

As part of the Langban Tarpon ceremony, rituals were conducted at Laimayum Mandop community hall in Ningthoukhong Ward No 14, on Sunday in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the ethnic crisis gripping the state since May 3 last year.
Among others, works minister Govindas Konthoujam, Indigenous People's Organisation Manipur secretary Rakesh Moirangthem and Federation of Civil Society, Bishnupur District secretary RK Ashalata Devi offered floral tributes to the photos of the martyrs.
Family members of Konthoujam Prav-abati of Ningthoukhong Ward No.12, along with members of various clubs, meira paibi groups and civil society organisations also paid their respects and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.
Meanwhile, All Kha Kanglei Students' Union (AKKSU), Manipur organised "Langban Heikat Leikat Tamba" ritual to honour those who sacrificed their lives for the motherland at Kwakpa Iren point of Sheng-mai River near Kha Manipur College, Kakching gate.
Floral tributes were offered to the seven Ibudhou of Manipur who protected Meetei religion, as well as the martyrs of the Anglo-Manipuri War, the June 18 martyrs and those who have lost their lives in the current crisis.
The function was attended by representatives of various organisations of Kakching district, including the Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO), Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association, Kakching Keithel Apunba Ima Lup, Arambai Tenggol Unit-26, and NCC Unit I and II of Kha Manipur College, along with students from different schools in Kakching.
