Imphal, October 28 2024: A 17-year-old has been detained by airport staff of the Imphal Airport for carrying 4.66 kg of marijuana on October 26 and handed over to Singjamei police station along with the seized contraband.

According to a police report, the Indigo Airlines staff caught the Delhi-bound juvenile after discovering the marijuana (ganja) consignment wrapped in two packets during x-ray screening of his luggage.

The accused is said to resident of an area under Singjamei police station, where a case has been registered for further investigation.

Preliminary investigative process also led to the arrest of one Ningthoujam Rohit (25) s/o N Nimai of Tokpaching, presently residing in Ayangpali, who supplied the ganja to the juvenile, from along Kongba Road on the same day.
