Protestors throng Wangoi PS demanding justice

Imphal, September 28 2024: The Joint Action Committee against the Unnatural Death of Bashanti & Lanchenbi (Mama-Macha) along with a large crowd of enraged people thronged at Wangoi Police Station on Saturday, to register their protest against the non-disclosure of any leads in the mysterious deaths of Ningombam Ningol Adhikarimayum ongbi Bashanti and her daughter at Haoreibi Mayai Leikai, even after six days.

On Saturday, the JAC took out a rally from Wangoi Keithel till Wangoi PS demanding justice in the case and then thronged Wangoi PS.

Later, the Wangoi PS along with Mayang Imphal SDPO, convenors and co-convenors of the JAC and the people held a meeting.

Speaking to newspersons after the meeting, JAC co-convenor Ningombam Shyama informed that while the post mortem examination of the mother-daughter duo had been conducted on September 24, the report is yet to arrive at the PS.

He continued that JAC wants the report to be made available to the public as soon as possible and the contents made clear to the public, failing which the dead bodies would not be claimed.

However, if such a situation arises, the government would surely want to cremate or bury the mother-daughter duo.

Thus, to prevent the same, he urged the authority concerned including RIMS to make the report available at the earliest.

Mention may be made here that the police had brought up the matter of disposing the dead bodies of the mother and daughter as per the law, which enraged the people.
