Senapati/Ccpur, January 28 2022: A blessing programme for 49-Tadubi assembly constituency intending candidate Robert T Maram was held at Taphou Naga Community Hall, Maram on Friday.

Attended by delegates coming from Taphou areas and neighbouring villages, village headman of Taphou Pudunamei village stated that Robert Maram has been working actively with Naga People's Front (NPF) since inception of the party in Manipur in 2011.He is also presently serving as the working president of the party.

Robert started as a student leader since his youth and had held different posts in various students unions like Maram Students' Union (MKS), Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA), All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) and Naga Students' Federation (NSF).

He had also held different posts in other social organisations including Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM), Taphou Area Youth & Students' Organisation (TAYSO), Tahamzam Youth & Students' Association, Senapati District Sports Association, Manipur and Indigenous Democratic Front (IDF).

Coming to political arena, Robert had served as the president of Youth Wing, NPF Manipur unit from 2011 to 2015, president of NPF Tadubi Unit in 2015, general secretary of NPF MSU from 2015-17 and working president of NPF MSU from 2017 till date.

Speaking on the occasion, Robert expressed that serving people is one of his greatest joys of life since childhood and has been praying to serve others in any possible way.

The intending candidate stated that there are many elected representatives who had misused their status for personal gain and vested interests.

However, he shared that jealousy or pride is never his thing and his intention is clear to serve people irrespective of caste, creed or tribe.

Robert also stated that he welcomes suggestions of all for betterment of the society and would open doors for all to come and discuss whatever is necessary.

Robert further assured that the Indo-Naga political problem which is considered to be the "mother of all issues" in Naga inhabited areas, when settled, people of the region could also live like other areas.

The blessing programme was led Taphou Naga Baptist Church pastor Rev Dr K Daniel, church leaders and society elders who gave special prayer for the intending candidate and his family at the later part of the programme.

In Churachandpur district, Khaipao Haokip, who is the BJP's intending candidate for Saikot AC in the ensuing election, held an interaction programme with chiefs of villages falling under Saikot assembly constituency on Friday.

During the interaction programme held at New Boljang community hall, village chiefs shared their views on the need to develop Saikot assembly segment in all spheres of life.

Some village chiefs pointed out that it is not the party but individual which matters for bringing development in the constituency and people's votes are counted in election.

During the programme, Khaipao Haokip said that he will campaign as Khaipao and not the ticket seeker as getting elected does matter with party.

He then urged the gathering not to be too much preoccupied with getting or not getting the party ticket.

He also recalled how he became MDC in the past and caretaker ADC Churachandpur chairman and district BJP president.
