Meira paibi groups decry arrest of VVs

Khunai Kanba Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (KHUKAMPAL), Thoubal president W Maipak Leima has asserted that the government's move to arrest village volunteers (VVs) will not be acceptable or tolerated.
Addressing the media in the presence of Poirei Leimarol and AM AWOVA activists at the Thoubal Wangmataba office of KHUKAMPAL, president Maipak and secretary Ningthoujam Ruhini Devi reminded all concerned Ws have been ensuring safety of villagers in the fringe areas after the central and state forces failed to perform their duty.

Holding the central government accountable for the crisis in the state, they maintained that had the Ws not shouldered the responsibility to counter threats and attacks by Kuki militants then the indigenous people of Manipur would have suffered unparalleled losses.
The meira paibi leaders also claimed that the President's Rule has been imposed in pursuance of the central government's diabolic agenda to balkanise Manipur.
Meanwhile, a mass torch rally was carried out by meira paibi activists and public in Wangjing area on Wednesday evening in denunciation of arrest of VVs by security forces after PR was imposed in the state.
The rally started around 8 pm with meira paibi activists and people of Kairembikok, Lamding and Wangjing congregating at Wangjing Keithel.
The rally covered YK College and Wangbal Canal.
The participants chanted slogans such as 'No arrest of VVs') 'First arrest Kuki-narco terrorists', 'We oppose central government's action', 'Withdraw PR from Manipur', 'Form new government at the earliest', 'Implement NRC promptly', etc.
