Sports play key role in establishing disciplined society: Th Arunkumar

Imphal, October 26 2024: Sports, and art & culture play important roles in establishing and cultivating a disciplined society, Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar has stated.

He made the statement as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the 3rd Dhanamanjuri University Inter-College Men's Football Tournament-2024, hosted by DM College of Science at the grounds of the university on Saturday.

DM College of Sciences principal Prof G Bhuvaneshwari attended as president, while DM College of Arts principal T Ranjit Singh and DMU registrar RK Jotin were guests of honour.

MLA Arunkumar said that while education is important, a healthy body and mind is also important.

For this, sports play a vital role not only with regard to a healthy body but also in building discipline amongst the people and the society as a whole.

To become a successful person, maintaining good discipline is important.

As such, he urged the youth and the young students to engage in sports in addition to their studies.

He continued that Manipur is known for its art and culture and sports prowess and thus, call upon the participating players of the tournament to play with strict discipline and showcase the true sporting spirit.

Those selected to play outside the state should uphold the same and become the most discipline team.

He then said that he will consult with the government to further develop the grounds in the varsity.
