Body of deceased donated to JNIMS

Imphal, September 25 2024:
The cadaver of Sanglakpam Joy alias Nirupama (60) of Thangmeiband Maisnam Leikai, who passed away on Tuesday, has been donated to the Anatomy Department of JNIMS on Wednesday.
After the post mortem examination was conducted at RIMS morgue on Wednesday, Joy's body was taken to Langol Old Age Home, Langol Ningthou Leikai, where the elderly residents and Joy's own family members offered floral tributes.
After the tributes, his cadaver was handed over to the Anatomy Department of JNIMS.
In this regard, Langol Old Age Home chairman Oinam Mangi Meitei said that Sanglakpam Joy stayed at the Home for four years.
On October 1, 2022, he (Joy) pledged to donate his body to the JNIMS Anatomy Department after his death.
As such, the Home handed over his (Joy's) body to the Department as per his wishes, Mangi added.
It may be mentioned that Joy was found in an unconscious state near Imphal Urban Co-Operative Bank in MG Avenue under City police station around 1.50 pm Tuesday.
A team of City police immediately took him to RIMS hospital.
However, the doctor declared him (Joy) brought dead at around 2.20 pm.
