Imphal, June 24 2025: Imphal East deputy commissioner Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam has directed immediate removal of unauthorised structures along the river banks and on drainage system.

A notice issued by Dr Nivedita on Monday observed that a number of un authorised structures - both permanent and temporary - have been constructed or .encroached upon riverbanks and drainage systems within the revenue jurisdiction of Imphal East district despite repeated eviction and re moval drives carried out by the government and district authorities.

Pointing out that such encroachments are obstructing the natural flow of water, particularly during the monsoon season, and pose serious risk of causing artificial flooding, the DC advised the public, especially those who have erected such unauthorised structures, to dismantle and remove the same within seven days.

Failure to comply will lead to eviction and demolition by the departments concerned without further notice, she warned.
