Imphal, September 23 2024: Following Reports of gunshots heard from the eastern hillside of Langmeidong village in Kakching district on Sunday night, security forces carried out a joint operation at Laimanai Laimaton hill and Litan Kom on Monday morning.

Police sources said that following reports of multiple gunshots heard by locals, Kakching district police commandos and BSF cordoned off the area the whole night and carried out operation from 5 am to 7.45 am.

The operation was conducted by a joint team of Kakching district commando, Hiyanglam police, 46 AR and 8-BSF/E-Coy.However, there is no reports of any arrest made of seizure of weapons.

On the other hand, Bishnupur district police recovered one SLR with magazine, two RPG shells with two chargers, three 36-HE hand grenades, one Chinese hand grenade and a handheld radio set from Bamdiar area under Nambol police station on Sunday afternoon.

The recovered items have been handed over to Nambol PS .
