Imphal, June 23 2024:
The first foundation day of Team Meitei Personalities (TMP) Manipur, established to counter false narratives surrounding the ethnic crisis, particularly against the Meetei community, since May 3 last year, was held on Sunday at Hotel Imphal by The Classic.
Speaking at the event, advisor RK Nimai informed that TMP was formed as a WhatsApp group soon after the May 3 incident.
Due to the internet shutdown at that time, the group created by the Meetei diaspora has been actively countering the false narratives surrounding the crisis in Manipur.
Besides being a platform for sharing ideas, TMP has been aiding the internally displaced persons staying in relief camps and conducting medical camps there.
Additionally, it has distributed relief materials to Meetei families affected by the escalating crisis in Jiribam on Sunday.
He further said that TMP includes members originally from Manipur who are now living in various parts of India and across the world.
They have been contributing their expertise in the field of technology from outside, while the members of TMP staying in the state are working to implement the ideas shared by the public and will continue to do so in the future, he affirmed.
Along with releasing a newsletter of TMP, the event also included presenting gifts to the contributors of the newsletter.
In addition, the Manipur State Trade Body, which is a part of TMP, also provided financial assistance to the Indian Red Cross Society team who will be heading to Jiribam on June 26 to extend help to the people in distress in the border district.
The function was also attended by award-winning filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma, Impact TV editor in-chief Rupachandra Yumnam and others from outside the state.
