School running sans Meetei Mayek teacher: PSO

Imphal, January 22 2025: Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO), Manipur has informed that during an inspection of Phougakchao High School, they found that there was no teacher available to teach Meetei Mayek in the school.

In a release, the organisation said that the school, which offers classes from I to X, has 440 students and 15 teachers.

It is concerning that despite the emphasis on development of mother tongue in the National Educational Policy, no teacher for Meetei Mayek is available, it denounced, while highlighting the lack of significant progress in the state s education system, despite government claims of improvement.

It urged the education department to look into the matter.
