Imphal, June 20 2024:
Expressing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can resolve the ongoing crisis in Manipur within 24 hours if he wants to, Central Executive Committee of World Meitei Council (WMC) has urged the Prime Minister to order stringent measures for halting attacks by Chin-Kuki terrorists oh the indigenous Meeteis.
In a statement, WMC general secretary Yambem Arun Meetei highlighted that the crisis in the state, perpetuated by Chin-Kuki terrorists, has been lingering for 14 months despite deployment of over 40-50,000 paramilitary forces.
The troubling fact that the Chin-Kuki terrorists are attacking the Meetei populace right under the nose of the central forces, has raised questions about the union government's policies and their geopolitical implications in Southeast Asia, Arun said, who also referred to decision of the high-level security meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to deploy additional security forces in the state.
The secretary, nevertheless, held Chin-Kuki terrorists responsible for the crisis in Manipur in pursuance of their agenda to exert pressure on the central government in ceding the separate administration demand of the Kukis.
Chin-Kuki terrorists are resorting to violence in an attempt to drive the Meeteis out of their areas of influence in Manipur, he added.
