Imphal, April 18 2025: Manipuri Sahitya Parishad condoled the untimely demise of folk singer Thongam Goshe Meitei and Tripura Manipuri Sahitya Parishad former president and academician Rajkumar Jitendrajit.

In a release, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal recalled that Thongam Goshe Meitei was honoured by the Parishad with 'Kamlasana Rajkumari Ningshing Shelgi Mana' in 2022.Meanwhile, Tripura Manipuri Sahitya Parishad former general secretary informed that president Rajkumar Jitendra Singh, a respected academician known for his significant contributions to Manipuri literature, passed away on Thursday following an illness.

Jitendra penned books on 'Manipuri Sahitya Sangskriti', 'Tripura Manipuri Sahitya Sangskriti', 'Tripura Manipuri Praja', and the English translation of 'Poireiton Khunthok' among others.

In recognition of his literary achievements, he was awarded with the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal's 'Platinum Jubileegi Thoidokpa Mana' (2017), and Dr Birendrachandra Ningshing Mana, MSPT (2024), among others.

Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal, held a condolence meeting to mourn the untimely demise of the two esteemed personalities, observing a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.

While praying for the departed souls to rest in peace, it also shared the pain of the bereaved families.
