Prem laid to rest; three VVs granted bail

Thoubal, February 15 2025: The body of Laishram Priyam alias Prem, who was allegedly, killed in a gun fight with Thoubal District Commando near Salungpham High School on December 14, 2025, were claimed by his family from JNIMS Morgue on Saturday and was subsequently buried at his native village at Thoubal Khunou on the same day.

On reaching the village, people including students from his school paid their last respect to his mortal remains, which were then buried at the foothills of Thoubal Khunou.

In a related development, three of the six persons arrested with arms at the Salungpham in connection with the case were released on surety bonds and personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each by Special Judge (NIA), Thoubal on February 12, while the other three have been detained under NSA .

The three persons who were granted bails are Ningthoujam Kama alias Pishak (27), son of Ningthoujam Ukil of Samaram Maning Laibung Leikai; Ningthoujam Manoranjan alias Khagemba (22), son of N Singhajit of Thinungei Kha Leikai and Moirangthem Johnson alias Thouna (21), son of M Kumar of Lamphel Kombirei, presently residing at Khuyathong Polem Leikai.

While the three persons detained under NSA include Thokchom Momocha alias Sunny (41), son of Th Ibochou of Heirok Part 2 Mayai Leikai; Sarangthem Anand alias Malem (41), son of S Shyam of Kakching Khunou Tampakmayum Leikai and Thongam Phalguni alias Urikpa alias Khoithoi (27), son of Th Deben of Lamphel Sanakeithel.
