Hospital society resents MLA's remark

In response to statement by an MLA in the state assembly about enrolment of patients at Bishnupur District Hospital, suggesting that the hospital is merely a referral centre and attends to no more than six patients daily, the District Hospital Management Society has clarified that the regrettable comment was made due to a communication gap.
Addressing media persons at the district hospital on Monday, Society's executive member M Bilkee Singh expressed regret over the MLA s comment during the assembly session on August 6.He clarified that the hospital serves patients from various districts, including Churachandpur, Senapati, Noney, and Kangpokpi, and handles between 40 and 350 patients daily at its OPD across multiple specialties such as gynaecology, orthopaedics, medicine, paediatric surgery, psychiatry, ENT.
and dental care, apart from the hospital performing 3-4 operations daily.
He further said that the hospital has 60 beds and a blood transfusion unit.
Due to the high volume of patients, the hospital proposed expansion to 200 beds, said the secretary, adding that it operates a 24-hour pharmacy to serve patients possessing CMHT and Ayushman Bharat cards.
The press conference was also attended by hospital's medical superintendent Dr Kh Satyabala, Bishnupur CMO Dr L Raichandra and Society's executive member N Bimola Devi.
