'CoHSEM, BSEM to affiliate only rule-abiding private schools'

Imphal, April 12 2025: Joint secretary (education) Dr Chinglenkhomba has stated that only those private schools which strictly adhere to guidelines would be affiliated to Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (CoHSEM).

He made the statement at Induction Ceremony 2025-26 of Chairman's Club of UNACCO School at UNACCO College in Khongman on Saturday.

As part of the ceremony, students from various classes who were selected for the Club were presented with the identification papers.

Dr Chinglenkhomba continued that Manipur has many private schools and those who do not follow government guidelines are neither recognised by the government nor affiliated to BSEM & CoHSEM.

When a school sends in application for affiliation, a NOC is given after strictly determining whether they are abiding by government guidelines and rules.

The school is recognised after detailed examination of key factors ranging from the teaching-learning materials to hygiene, maintenance and safety measures.

All affiliation requests are look into through the ZEOs concerned and the department cross-checks everything again.

The application is then forwarded to the secretariat after which only the rule-abiding schools are selected, he informed.

The ceremony was also attended by UNACCO chairman by N Irabanta.
