Workshop on Manipuri dance concludes

Imphal, January 12 2025: The 20-day winter workshop on Manipuri dance organised by Lianda Folk & Classical Academy since December 23, 2024 concluded on Sunday at JN Manipur Dance Academy.

The valedictory function of the workshop was attended by deputy director (art & culture) G Dharmadas Sharma as chief guest, State Kala Aka-demi awardee Dr L Gojendro and assistant professor Dr A Radhamani of MU dance and music department as presidium members.

In his speech at the event, G Dharmadas said performing arts alone should not be treated as culture and it is important for performing artistes to maintain high discipline and tradition.

He thanked Lianda Folk & Classical Academy for imparting discipline, tradition and culture to younger generation of the society.

A total of 135 students, aged five to 23 years, who took part in the workshop performed Lai Haraoba dance, Maibi Jagoi, Mao dance and Kabui dance during the valedictory function.
