Imphal, August 11 2024:
Bringing politics in Khwairamband Keithel, which is not only the economic backbone of the state but also the identity and heritage, has tainted the largest women's market, said All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) president Nando Luwang.
He was attending the 17th foundation day function of Manipur Keithel Phambi Apunba Lup (MKPAL) held at THAU Ground Thangmeiband here on Sunday.
Leaders of different CSOs also attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Nando Luwang highlighted the role of women vendors of Ima Keithel in raising up various social issues concerning the society.
Unfortunately, politics is gradually permeating among the women vendors, who also play the role of social activists in times of crisis and social issues.
This taints the identity, image and dignity of the Ima Keithel and the women vendors, he said while urging the women vendors to never allow political infiltration.
Nando further emphasised on the importance of understanding the enemies of the society.
The current crisis could be resolved easily with just a couple of words from the union home minister.
There is a major reason behind the silence of the Prime Minister.
Government of India does not want to resolve the crisis.
They send in more paramilitary forces taking advantage of the crisis.
Without an agenda, there is no reason to deploy around 1 lakh paramilitary personnel and not controlling the crisis.
The public need to understand the game behind the crisis, he said.
MKPAL president Oinam Bilasini, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Lup president S Memcha, AMAWOVA president Y Kunjarani, Roadside Vendors' Welfare Association president Kshetri Tama, AMMUC president T Dayachandra, Kshetrigao Meira Paibi Apunba Lup president Jano Begum and KAMA president Atompi Kamei were also present at the event.

She also recounted the activities of MKPAL since its inception 17 years ago and called upon the people to stand firm against the existential threat the indigenous people are facing today.
