AR honours fallen heroes across state

Assam Rifles on Tuesday held a series of wreath-laying ceremonies to honour its fallen heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.
According to PRO IGAR (S), at the War Memorial, a solemn ceremony was organised for Nk/GD Jang Bahadur Mall of 4 Assam Rifles, who gave his life on June 11, 1956, during a face-off with insurgents at Mao.
He laid down his life due to a bullet injury while performing Road Opening Party (ROP) duties.
Simultaneously, at the Battalion Quarter Guard in Moreh, Tengnoupal district, a wreath-laying ceremony was held to honour Subedar Lalruala Lushai of 5 Assam Rifles, who sacrificed his life on June 11, 1956, during unprovoked Chinese aggression in Longju, Subansiri Division, NEFA (present-day Arunachal Pradesh).
His raw courage, extreme resolve, loyalty, and comradeship during the operation are etched in golden letters in the history of Assam Rifles.
In another solemn event at the War Memorial in Jou-pi, Chandel district, officers and soldiers of 17 Assam Rifles honoured Rifleman Mukesh Kumar, who valiantly sacrificed his life during an encounter with militants at Singjamei, Manipur, in 1998.The ceremony highlighted the bravery and unwavering dedication of Rifleman Mukesh Kumar.
"The sacrifices made by these brave soldiers serve as a poignant reminder of the ongoing efforts and risks faced by the armed forces in safeguarding the nation.
Assam Rifles remains ever-dependable, well-equipped, and ready to tackle all operational challenges within its area of responsibility," elaborated the PRO, adding that officers, JCOs and other ranks paid tribute to the brave-hearts besides narrating their tales of valour.
