Imphal, June 10 2024:
The failure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the protracted crisis in Manipur and acknowledge the challenges faced by its people for last one year has not only left the public disheartened but also stirred discontentment among the workers of BJP, including founder members.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club, here, on Monday, Asem Chandrakumar, a loyal member of BJP for the past four decades, urged the Prime Minister to visit the state and listen to the grievances of its people for resolving the ongoing crisis.
Recounting his affiliation with BJP since 1984 under the leadership of Madhumangol, Chandrakumar said he has been working for the party, including significant contribution during the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Highlighting the year-long suffering of the people of Manipur due to the crisis, Chandrakumar asserted their dissatisfaction with the government could be comprehended from the people's mandate against BJP in the recent Lok Sabha elections conducted amidst turmoil.
He said that the government should align its actions with the desires of the populace.
Acknowledging Narendra Modi's re-election as Prime Minister for the third consecutive term, Chandrakumar urged him to leave the past behind and visit Manipur to console its people, listen to their grievances, and address their concerns directly.
He pleaded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for immediate intervention for restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur.
