State Level Science, Mathematics & Environment Exhibition for Children 2024-25: Prizes distributed

The valedictory and prize distribution function of the 43rd State Level Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children 2024-25 was held today at Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School.
The Science Unit, Department of Education' (S) organised the exhibition under the theme "Science and Technology for Sustainable Future" .
Sanathoi Nongthombam from Sainik School was named the Best Exhibitor while Chingambam Linthoilembi from Lamdeng High School and Leishangthem Sylvia Chanu from Ukhrul Central School were the 2nd and 3rd Best Exhibitors respectively.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes come with a cash reward of Rs 15000, Rs 1000 and Rs 7000 respectively along with certificates and memento.
The exhibition witnessed the participation of 46 candidates Eighteen Merit Prize Winner were also selected and they received a cash prize of Rs 2500, memento and certificate.
Additionally, consolation prizes of Rs 2000 and a certificate were handed over to 25 students.
Notably, the Best Teacher Guide award was bestowed on Sainik.
School teacher Amom Sochen Singh.
The prize comes with Rs 5000, certificate and memento.
Moreover, prizes of the 44th State Level Students' Science Seminar 2024 held on November 18, 2024 were also distributed today.
Sruty Wangjam (Padma Ratna English School, Kakching) and Khomdram Chanchan Chanu (Mothers Pride Academy) bagged the 1st and 2nd prizes, winning Rs 20,000 and Rs 7000 respectively along with a certificate and memento each.
The Best Teacher Guide award was given to Padma Ratna English School teacher Kumam Ronibala.
She received Rs 5000 cash incentive, certificate and memento.
Speaking as the chief guest, N Praveen Singh, IAS, Secretary, Education (S) highlighted the important role of teachers in shaping a society.
However, he questioned how Manipuri society will develop if teachers continue to opt out of being transferred in places with shortage of educators and instead search for posting in places that will accommodate their chores at home and engagements in their local area.
He urged teachers to rid themselves of the idea of requesting for transfers to suitable areas close to home.
Educating students only in Imphal area and its surroundings will not bring the entire State on the path to development, he said.
N Praveen also highlighted the need to conduct checks to see if the grants sanctioned under Samagra Shiksha in the State to teach innovative practices to students have been properly utilized.
