Two students killed, one injured in accident

Kakching, August 09 2025: At least two students studying at Kakching Khunou College were killed and another left injured in an accident at Wangjing Khunou under Wangoo police station around 9 pm Thursday.

The deceased students have been identified as Mayanglambam Bishan Singh (20) s/o M Ibohal of Kakching Khunou Awang Keithel Leikai and Heisnam Ngongo Singh (17) c/o H Inao Devi of Kakching Khunou Thongam Awang Mamang Leikai.

The injured has been identified as Khumukcham Nivash Singh (18) s/o Khumukcham Tomba of Kakching Khunou Uchan Makhong Leikai.

Bishan was the general secretary of Kakching Khunou College Student's Union and Heisnam Ngongo Games & Sports secretary.

According to a police report, all three were riding a Vespa and travelling from Wangoo Mamang Sabal to Kakching Khunou when they had a head-on collision with a Tata truck parked on the side of Wangjing Khunou/Wangoo Lamkhai road.

At the time of the accident, there was a heavy downpour in the area.

On receiving news of the accident, a team of Wangoo police arrived at the scene and rushed all three to Primary Health Centre Wangoo for treatment.

However, both Bishan and Ngongo succumbed to injuries.

Nivash is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital in Imphal.
