KLAM celebrates foundation day, presents awards

Imphal, February 09 2025: Kangleipak Loinasilon Apunba Marup (KLAM) celebrated its 23rd foundation day at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday during which the literary organisation also distributed its annual awards to four writers.

Social worker Oinam Romen, KLAM president Nangom Norendrajit (national awardee) and social worker Dr Laishram Jugesh-war attended the event as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

On the occasion, the Leishangthem Somananda Ningshing Loinasillon Mana 2024 was presented to RK Sanahanbi (Likhombi) Chanu for her book on short stories 'Aroiba Firep'; Kanglei Enatki Mapari Keithellakpam Sanahongba Mangang Loinasillon Mana 2024 to Naoroibam Khamba for his book 'Marjing Sanamahigi Saiyonni'; Moirangthem Rajendro Loinasillon Mana 2024 to Sagolsem Bilashini for her poetry book 'Thaja Thanil'; and the Haobam Sanajaoba (Haoba) Ningshing Loinasillon Mana 2024 to Nahakpam Biren for his novel 'Mamal Naidraba Khudol.

The awards consist of cash, citation and shawl.

KLAM general secretary Ningthoujam Debeshwor said that the books for the awards were selected from among the books without or minimal foreign (non-Manipuri) words.

Later, a poetry meet was also organised as part of the event with Salam Tomba as the moderator.
