BJP unable to translate poll promises: Kohring

Kakching, February 08 2022: While accusing BJP of failing to translate promises made, particularly related to youth, in the 2017 assembly election into action, Seven Brothers convener Wango Kohring Victor has said it would be worthless to give vote to the BJP in the upcoming election and called for supporting NPF.

Seven Brothers was floated recently by seven people who sought Naga People's Front (NPF) ticket for contesting the assembly election from Chandel assembly constituency and decided to support the one who received the party ticket.

Addressing a gathering at an election campaign meet for Chandel AC NPF candidate Langhu Paulhring Anal at Chakpikarong public ground on Tuesday, Wango Kohring Victor said that nine people from Chandel AC sought NPF ticket.

Out of the nine ticket contenders, seven of them namely ex-MP/MLA Bd Behring, ex-MLA St Victor Nunghlung, Ts Beton, Wango Kohring Victor, Ws Kanral, HL Lovingson and Langhu Paulhring Anal reached an understanding to collectively extend support to the person who got the ticket.

After the party allotted ticket to Langhu Paulhring Anal, they supported the NPF candidate and will work towards ensuring victory of NPF candidate from the constituency, he said.

BJP made several promises in 2017 election but none of the promises were implemented and the vivid example is suppression of numerous recruitment programmes thus leaving the youth seeking jobs in jeopardy, Kohring Victor said and named several recruitments which remained pending or undeclared till date.

While appealing to the people to support NPF, Kohring Victor said NPF will always stand for welfare of tribal people and safeguard tribal indigenous rights, tribal land and produces.

The party will also mount pressure on the government to conduct delimitation exercise in 2026 without affecting interest of all indigenous communities and development funds will be utilised after consulting people and abolish corruption, he said, adding that NPF will make every possible effort to have separate law for the valley and hills.

The party will demand separate budget for hills after taking consent of the Hill Areas Committee, he added.

In his speech, NPF candidate Langhu Paulhring Anal said all the members of Seven Brothers are going together and Tuesday's meet was held specifically to show that all the seven people who sought NPF ticket for the seat of Chandel AC are working together to ensure victory of NPF candidate in the constituency.

The meet was also attended by NPF Chandel Division president Langhu Starson, 41-Chandel Area Unit president Sk Setoi Lamkang, Seven Brothers members namely Bd Behring, St Victor Nunghlung and Ts Beton.
