Ukhrul facing another outage

Ukhrul, August 07 2024: The entire Ukhrul district was left without power on Wednesday after a technical issue disrupted the 33 KV transmission line at the Hundung power substation.

Apart from the Ukhrul power substation, the technical issue has also affected power supply to the Tolloi substation, Namrei substation, and Jessami substation.

This is the latest in a series of power disruptions that have plagued the district frequently, especially during rainy season, highlighting the need for a more reliable and resilient power infrastructure in the district.

Official sources informed that the 33 kV line connecting the Hundung substation to Ukhrul experienced an unspecified technical problem, leading to a complete blackout in the district.

"The rectification work on the 33 KV line from.

Hundung to Ukhrul cannot be completed today, an official of the MSPDCL Ukhrul stated, quoting MSPCL.

"Consequently, there will be no power supply to the Ukhrul substation, Tolloi substation, Namrei substation, and Jessami substation until the issue is resolved" .

Meanwhile, the unexpected power outage has caused significant inconvenience to the residents with households, businesses, and essential services all affected.

Even critical facilities like hospitals, banks and others have had to rely on backup generators to maintain operations.
