Essay competition commemorates 10 yr of BBBP

The district administration, in collaboration with District Programme Office, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Cell, Kakching, organised an Essay Writing Competition as part of the 10th edition of the "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" (BBBP) scheme on Wednesday at Wabagai Higher Secondary School.
Addressing the students, Nandita Ngangbam, supervisor of ICDS, Kakching, provided an overview of the BBBP scheme, emphasising its objectives of preventing gender discrimination, promoting girls' education, and improving the child sex ratio.
She also underscored the crucial role of education in shaping the future of society and highlighted that the theme of the essay competition was designed to raise awareness on these critical issues.

The event was attended by Y Achouba, ZEO Kakching, Salam Uma, senior supervisor ICDS Kakching, Nandita Ngangbam, supervisor ICDS Kakching, and Mayengbam Bhorot Singh, principal of Wabagai Higher Secondary School.
Over 80 students participated in the competition, which was open to students up to Class XII .
The theme of the competition was "Role of Education in Shaping a Woman's Life" .
Priyadarshini Ningthoujam of Class XI, Kakching Higher Secondary School, secured first place, followed by Bernessa Laikangbam of Class IX, Grace Cottage Academy, in second place.
Mayengbam Roshita Devi of Class X, Grace Cottage Academy, won third place, while Naorem Loyalembi Devi of Class IX, Grace Cottage Academy, and Moirangthem Angelina of Class IX, Eureka Academy, Thounaojam, secured fourth and fifth position, respectively.
The winners will receive their awards on March 8, during the celebration of International Women's Day.
Additionally, a football exhibition match for adolescent girls of Kakching District will be organised on the same day.
Notably, the District Programme Office, ICDS Cell, Kakching has been actively conducting awareness programmes in various areas of the district as part of the 10th edition of the BBBP initiative.
