Imphal, February 05 2025:
Voicing public outrage over the killing of a village volunteer at Salungpham and also demanding immediate release of the six arrested volunteers, Meira paibi activists of Senjam Chirang staged a sit-in demonstration at Senjam Chirang community hall on Wednesday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, Senjam Chirang Meira Paibi secretary Heikham Ambrapati reminded all concerned that village volunteers have been protecting their villages and the state from Kuki militants' attacks since the onset of the crisis on May 3, 2023 .

She said that without the efforts of these volunteers, the community would have fallen victim to the militants.
Ambrapati also urged the authorities to refrain from targeting or arresting village volunteers and demanded release of volunteers detained by the police without any condition.
