DA distributes mattress to IDPs

Imphal, December 04 2024: As a part of the endeavour to shield the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from the chilly winter months, Imphal East district administration has begun distribution of mattresses to IDPs residing in various camps on Wednesday On October29, the government of Manipur sanctioned Rs 5.6 crore from State Emergency Fund to provide Rs 1000 each to IDPs, as well as essential bedding items, including mattresses, bed sheets, pillows, pillow covers, and blankets, to help them endure the cold winter season.

Chief Minister N Biren also assured the provision of winter necessities for the state's displaced population.

Imphal East DA began the distribution of mattresses to IDPs residing in various relief camps.

While the IDPs expressed gratitude for distribution of the mattress, they urged the state government to provide additional items, particularly blankets, as temperatures continue to drop, leaving them with limited options to stay warm.
